After a string of relatively quiet days, Chief Askew had a big case to investigate today. Thieves broke into a Newnan grocery store during the night and made off with a huge haul of goods. Among the items he recorded in his diary:

  • Two new slot machines, one large one and one small one

  • 3 or 4 sacks of flour

  • About 20 pounds of fresh pork loin

  • About 20 pounds of bulk sausage

  • 4 or 5 large cans Prince Albert smoking tobacco

  • “Some Can goods, Cigars, chewing gum & Etc.”

It seems the thieves got clean away, for I don’t see any diary entries in the next few days indicating an arrest.

The three Prince Albert cans above are being offered by a vendor on eBay.
