The company bringing natural gas to Newnan said in an interview in this week’s Newnan Herald that its work was almost done, and gas hook-ups to Newnan homes had “thus far exceeded expectations” which was “very gratifying.” Several stores were offering gas appliances and a gas cooking school was scheduled later in the month by the gas company. The company was even considering making Newnan the headquarters of the Georgia Natural Gas Corporation.

There were a few black marks on Newnan, however, and Chief Askew had to deal with them. Paid subscribers can read on about the mini-crime wave that involved the gas company.
