A man visiting from Fort Valley, Georgia had the misfortune of having his car stolen in Newnan. His dark green 1929 two-door Chevrolet was parked in front of a residence on College Street. Chief Askew wrote down all the identifying details, including “Two Pillows in car with Fort Valley on them.”

Fort Valley is located about two hours southeast of Newnan in Peach County, the Peach State’s largest producer of the “queen of fruits.” Paid subscribers can read on about Georgia peaches, then and now.
