The car stolen earlier in the week from a Fort Valley man while visiting Newnan was recovered in Ashland, Alabama, Chief Askew wrote today. “The Sheriff said he got a white Boy with the car by name of Tom Brittain, said he wanted him for theft of 2 or 3 cars out there, and he would be a long time gone before we got him here.” Supposedly he meant young Tom would serve his time in Alabama before he got to be charged in Georgia.

This week’s edition of the Newnan Herald was dominated by news of the upcoming state convention of the Daughters of the American Revolution. It was stuffed with ads welcoming the DAR ladies, pictures of Newnan’s beauty spots, and enticements to shop ‘til they dropped. Paid subscribers can read on.
