Chief Askew’s entry today was a bare three lines, commenting on the weather — “cloudy and cool this a.m. Very disagreeable outdoors” — and saying there was “nothing much doing” in the crime line.

The big story on the front page of the Atlanta Journal today was the conviction of a member of the city council, Harry York, for taking bribes connected with the building of the new municipal building. Paid subscribers can read on about the punishment meted out to this corrupt public servant.

In the picture above, York is second from left, signing a bond for his release from the Fulton County Tower jail.
