The Coweta County Courthouse was practically emptied of officials today as they attended the County Officers Convention in Valdosta, Chief Askew wrote in his diary. They had departed early Monday and would be back Thursday. It was a quiet day, with a hard rain in the afternoon.

The front page of the Atlanta Constitution shared a scandal. West Point’s star football player, Christian Keener Cagle, had been forced to leave school because he had secretly married two years before.
