This weekend was a quiet one in Newnan, with police Chief Askew merely commenting that a big crowd of people came to town Saturday afternoon, “mostly sightseers and window shoppers.” Lots of folks were driving around on Sunday with a “large crowd” headed to Warm Springs.

Perhaps some of those window shoppers were tempted to buy hosiery at a sale at Daniel’s Sons & McGahee. This ad, which appeared in the May 16 Newnan Herald, pitched the “real savings” women would find. With snags and runs a common occurrence, women were always having to buy more, as going bare-legged was not an option for a lady of taste.
