Chief Askew had nothing to write about but the weather today. He speculated that Newnan might get some rain.

In the pages of the local newspaper, there were many advertisements promising goods to combat Georgia’s hot and humid summer, from rotating fans to fly spray. Paid subscribers can read on and learn about how Southerners coped during these times before central air-conditioning.

The electric fan ad appeared in the May 23, 1930 edition of the Newnan Herald.
