Chief Askew's Diary: May 24-25, 1930
He attends a veterans of the Spanish War rally at the Red Men's Wigwam
On Sunday, Chief Askew and five other men went to Atlanta to attend a rally of the United Spanish-American War Veterans, held at a hall owned by an organization with the exotic name of the Improved Order of Red Men. Their meeting site was known as a “wigwam.”
“They had an open meeting and a large crowd. Everybody had a very nice time,” he wrote.
