Chief Askew noted in his diary Sunday morning, a “very pretty day,” that “everybody that has a car is out burning gas to-day.” He added, “Lots of people came through here going to Warm Springs.”

The attraction in Warm Springs was the resort owned by Franklin Delano Roosevelt, who was then governor of New York. Ads were regularly placed in the Newnan Herald touting its attractions. The one here, which was aimed at young people, ran on May 23, 1930.
