Fans of Mrs. Culp’s Diary may remember that she checked out two books at the Tampa Public Library a couple of weeks ago, Gone with the Wind for herself and Grand Hotel for her husband Walter. The Culps, both German immigrants, hailed from Berlin, which is the setting for Vicki Baum’s 1929 novel about the drama at a fancy hotel during one week.
