It was Sunday. Mr. Lanham was up at six a.m., putting out verbena plants in his flower beds. After church, the Lanham family went to visit a friend and Julia Anne had a “great time” running and playing with the other children, including riding a bicycle.
“All the trees lovely in their soft green draperies,” he wrote poetically. “A fine day to be out.”
