It was warm today in Rome, with a high near 60 degrees, and Mr. Lanham was exulting in the beautiful flowers. “Bridal wreath spirea, double-flowering peach, and White Lady narcissus at their loveliest now,” he wrote. “Roses and peonies growing nicely.” Not surprisingly, Mr. Lanham spent some time in his garden today.
