For the first time in a long stretch, Rome went without rain two days in a row. It was a hot day, and Mr. Lanham cut some nice roses to bring to the Lanham & Sons store. Inventory was being taken of the ready-to-wear and millinery departments, and Mr. Lanham observed that the man pricing items for sale had set the prices very low.
