The snow continued to fall all day in Rome, Georgia, but the thermometer registered just above freezing so it didn’t stick. Mr. Lanham was going over the accounts for the family store, “trying to collect up before our new fiscal year.” He enjoyed a few good games of volleyball at the YMCA that evening, his favorite form of exercise.
