Mr. Lanham prattled on a bit about his wife Anne taking the “big car” to an out-of-town missionary conference this morning, then he lowered the boom.

“Gordon Hight has bought from the bank Papa’s home. It is a tragedy that I have gotten them into this predicament or rather embarrassment. I regret it exceedingly but it cannot be helped now.”
