The Lanhams’ five-year-old daughter Julia Anne spent most of Sunday with a friend, Anne Marguerite Harris. Her parents went to Shorter College to hear the commencement sermon delivered by the new president, Dr. William Davis Furry. “Good service, with pretty music,” Mr. Lanham wrote. (The vintage postcard, dating from 1920, was found on eBay.)
