Head of Phi Beta Kappa comes to Rome

It was a clear and warm day and Mr. Lanham got out early to plant some creeping phlox he had been given by a friend. His mother’s brother, John Thompson, was visiting from Florida. Although his health was not the best, Mr. Lanham found him “still full of fun and wit” when he visited him at his mother’s home that morning.
