It rained during the night and Mr. Lanham found his roses and peonies “rather bowed down” this morning. Another wind and rainstorm hit that afternoon and he cut a number of peonies to save them from the wind.

He had his usual game of volleyball at the Y, and at home he “read several poems aloud to Anne” before going to bed. Doesn’t that paint a sweet pic…
