Mr. Lanham’s temperature dropped from a high of 102.5 during the night to “subnormal this morning,” and his throat felt better. Nevertheless, he stayed in bed again today, missing a conference about their business troubles with their legislator, lawyer, and friend Will Mundy. His father apparently conveyed the gist of it: “Decided to do little but wait.”
