Enough roses were blooming that Mr. Lanham cut a few more to bring inside, including a, Etoile de Hollande boom at his mother’s house: “the loveliest red rose I think I ever saw — dusky, velvety and red, of good form.” This is a climbing rose, introduced in 1919, of the hybrid tea type.
