It was another fine spring day, “pleasantly cool,” and though Mr. Lanham rose too late to do any yard work before heading to the Lanham & Sons store, he skipped his volleyball games to “put out tobacco stems around the roses and move a few blubs and plants.” I had not heard of tobacco as an ornamental, but apparently it is.
