It was the final day of the year 1926. Mr. Lanham presided over police court. “A Mr. Hall, charged with being drunk, came in early wanting to put up $5.76 cash bond,” he wrote. That was almost $100 in today’s money. “I talked to him awhile and let it take that course.”
