It was another cool, cloudy day in Rome, with a wind from the North. Mr. Lanham was pleased to see that his newly planted rose bushes “seem to be doing nicely.”

His sister-in-law Willie Mae was better, but another friend had to have a blood transfusion after hemorrhaging and was “very ill.”
