Mrs. Lanham’s sister, Willie Mae, had her operation at the Harbin Hospital today, even though it was a Sunday, which makes me wonder if it was emergency appendectomy or something like that. “Very nauseated all day but resting somewhat better at night,” Mr. Lanham wrote.

They had guests for dinner that day, who brought their children. They stayed afterwar…
