Too many sweets give him a headache

The Sunday night rain had drenched everything, Mr. Lanham wrote, but the farm where his parents were moving had no water at all. Perhaps they put out some tubs to catch the hard rainfall that started again that afternoon.

Business was very dull, and besides that, Mr. Lanham suffered from a “[s]light headache all day, due no doubt to overeating of sweets…
