His fever peaked at “102 1/5” during the night, but this morning it was “subnormal and my throat is better,” Mr. Lanham wrote. Nevertheless, he stayed in bed again, as his doctor had advised. Sen. Mundy came to town for a conference about the business, and apparently Mr. Lanham’s father attended. “Decided to do little but wait,” he wrote.
