Mr. Lanham waited at the Atlanta depot until 2 a.m. for his father’s train from Rome to arrive — it is always late! — so Papa missed his connection to New York. He went to the Terminal Hotel for a couple of hours sleep and Mr. Lanham joined his family at the Henry Grady Hotel.
