The Culps’ exertions in the yard the day before caught up with them. Walter came home from town feeling sick and took his usual all-purpose remedy, the C.R.C. pill. “I hurt my back, right side, bending down to trim vine on porch,” she wrote. She took two kidney pills and stayed home all day.
