“It was very cold during night, had 2 fires going in morning,” Mrs. Culp wrote. She enjoyed coffee and cake with Else at Mrs. H—’s house and then she and her sister did some shopping. After supper, Mrs. H— came over and they spent the evening playing dominos and enjoyed a dessert of kasekuchen, a German cheesecake. (Here’s a recipe.)
