Something didn't sit right in her stomach

After a day in which Mrs. Culp feasted on fish, tomatoes and okra, salad, root beer and veal stew, she paid for it. “I was sick all day with stomach upset,” she wrote in a very short entry. She tried an enema and peppermints, but didn’t leave her room all day.
