Like many of us this week, Mrs. Culp spent a day cleaning the house. “I didn’t go out all day,” she wrote. Daugher-in-law Mickey, Frank’s wife, was packing her trunks in preparation for joining him in Savannah, but came over for lunch and supper with the Culps.

She received a card from sister Else in St. Petersburg, and translated the letter from German…
