Sugar shortage be damned. Mrs. Gunn had what she called a “baking day,” producing a chocolate cake, ice cream, and “apples for the church.” Meanwhile, her boys “were busy all day with Scout work.”

The 1940s vintage Scout canteen and flashlight, being offered by a dealer on eBay, caught my eye because the owner was K.Smith. But not this K.Smith!
