The Hamiltons’ vacation in Atlantic City came to an end today. They got up early this morning for breakfast and then returned to the Boardwalk. “Margaret and Gwennie went in bathing and I stayed in sand with Mother & M.E.,” he wrote. They had a late lunch at the hotel and then his mother-in-law took the children to ride the merry-go-round while their parents packed up the car.

I couldn’t find a vintage postcard of the children’s merry-go-round, but Atlantic City had a rather famous one in the Ritz-Carlton Hotel. Paid subscribers can read on about the merry-go-round bar craze and a unique cocktail recipe.

This postcard of the Ritz-Carlton Merry-Go-Round Bar is being offered on eBay.
