The Hamiltons, with Gwennie in tow, spent another day and night with his sister Rose in Syracuse. Today Professor Hamilton went over to the Syracuse University campus to look around and meet with a history department faculty member there. He joined his sister and some friends for lunch, picking up the bit of news that someone’s husband had all his teeth pulled out. That evening, he and Margaret made some social calls, bringing Gwennie along.

I hope Gwennie brought a book to read!

President Roosevelt had declared that he would not leave Washington for vacation during August due to debates over pending legislation. That didn’t stop him from enjoying weekend trips on the presidential yacht, the Sequoia. Paid subscribers can read on about his mini-vacas.
