Professor Hamilton agreed to care for the children this afternoon while his wife and mother-in-law went to New York. “Amused them, & so could not spend as much time as I desired on thesis — but did some of the changes.” He admitted to one moment of terror: “Gwennie gave me a scare by runnning out to the neighbor’s without telling me,” he wrote.
