The Hamiltons went shopping for a piano for Margaret today, going first to the Steinway & Sons store at 109 W. 57th Street. They brought along a Mrs. Remy who was apparently knowledgeable about good pianos to test the instruments. They went to another store and tried Knabe pianos, then repaired to a Russian restaurant on 57th Street, most certainly the famous Russian Tea Room, which had opened in 1926. He said they had “a very fine time” with Mrs. Remy, but decided to defer action on the Steinway until the following week.
