Early this morning the Hamiltons left their little tourist cabin and motored the Trois-Rivieres (“Three Rivers,” he added in parentheses), where they had breakfast at the Chateau de Blois. Perhaps Three Rivers was the inspiration for Louise Penny’s fictitious Three Pines, the locale for most of her popular mystery series featuring Inspector Armand Gamache of the Quebec Surete?

The rest of the day was filled with travel and stops at what Professor Hamilton described as “points of interest.” Paid subscribers can read on about their road trip.

The vintage postcard of the Cgateay de Blois restaurant, offered on eBay, appears to date from the 1920s, but the date penciled on the back is August 17, 1934.
