The Hamiltons returned to New York today where they made a payment of $100 toward a “slightly used” baby grand piano at the Steinway showroom. According to the Steinway website, the baby grand was introduced in the 1930s, “features the powerful and rich tone of a much larger piano” and is “small enough to fit nicely into almost any room.”

Something of a spending spree followed, as they shopped for a wedding gift at Ovington’s and then went to Macy’s for lunch and more shopping. Ovington’s was a noted seller of china and distinctive gifts which operated at 312-314 Fifth Avenue.

Late in the afternoon they started for home on the subway. “It was very hot and we were tired and late getting to Bronxville,” he said.
