Professor Hamilton's Diary: Feb. 11, 1935

Professor Hamilton had a Monday full of classes and faculty meetings, and picked up his recharged battery at the gas station so he could get his car going again. (Not quite sure how he got to the gas station; a battery is a heavy object to tote on a trolley car!) The day wound up with another musical treat, a concert by the violin prodigy Yehudi Menuhin, 18, at the Rajah Theater. The professor described it as “very fine.”

A gushing profile ran on the front page of the Reading Times today, with a jubilant review following the next day. Read about the charming young man from Brooklyn whose talent as a violinist and conductor brought joy to music lovers for 80 years. This photo of Menhudin taken in 1937 was accessed through Wikimedia Commons. The ad appeared in the Feb. 7, 1935 Reading Times, accessed through newspapers.com.
