Still recovering from his stomach upset, Professor Hamilton stayed in bed most of the morning and didn’t go to his classes: “ate little all day. Read some,” he wrote. Margaret skipped her ensemble class as well, possibly because baby Mary Elizabeth was still fretful. He concluded, “It rained.”

Well, so much for love and romance! There were a lot of really cute music-themed valentines on the market in the 1930s if Professor Hamilton had been able to rouse himself and go shopping! This one, being offered on eBay, would surely have tickled Margaret.
