Further proof that no good deed goes unpunished; Groundhog Day observed

It was Saturday, and Albright College held only morning classes for the 450 students enrolled this semester. Margaret Hamilton spent the day cleaning out the cellar. Professor Hamilton did a favor for a neighbor, whose car would not start, by picking up her husband at the bus station where he was returning from a trip to Cleveland. “After returning & driving my car in [the garage] I forgot to shut rear door, & it was broken against the side of the garage door,” he wrote. He managed to get the car into the garage “but it will require some work to fix the door.”

I can imagine some bad language was used — or at least thought!

It was Groundhog Day, and the Pennsylvania towns of Punxsutawney and Quarryville celebrated the large rodents that could allegedly predict the advent of an early spring. This collection of souvenirs dating from the 1930s to the 1990s is being offered on eBay.
