Professor Hamilton’s troublesome throat kept him in bed until noon today. He went downstairs in the afternoon to look after the baby while Margaret went to her music lesson, but then went back to bed and slept most of the day. Alas, he didn’t even feel like going to hear the famed Vienna Boys Choir, which was performing that night at the Rajah Theatre. Margaret took a friend, and he stayed home listening to the radio: comic Will Rogers and opera singer Lily Pons. This 1921 picture postcard of the theatre is being offered by a dealer on eBay.

The Vienna Boys Choir has been performing since 1498 and is one of the world’s oldest children’s choral groups.
