It was still very cold today, Professor Hamilton wrote, but the exams must go on. He gave mid-terms at Albright College to three classes during the day and one at night, returning home after eight and going to bed early.

Readers of the Reading Times opened their papers this morning to find an unnerving photograph of the man on trial in the kidnapping and murder of the Lindbergh baby. Bruno Hauptmann had taken the stand in his own defense the day before, and a news photographer captured him with a rare ear-to-ear grin.
