Professor Hamilton returned to the classroom today, going home in the afternoon to prepare the next day’s lessons. After supper, te took his wife Margaret and daughter Gwennie to downtown Reading, where they picked up the eye glasses Gwennie had broken, then “stopped to hear the ensemble class, in which M[argaret] was playing.”

Meanwhile, the much-anticipated trial of Bruno Hauptmann, charged with murdering the toddler son of Charles and Anne Lindbergh, opened in Flemington, New Jersey. It had been dubbed “The Trial of the Century.” Paid subscribers can read on. Others can click below to upgrade.
