Despite a day he averred was “the hottest day we have had,” Professor Hamilton cut the grass in the morning, then went inside to work on his thesis some more. He took an afternoon nap then worked until supper time. “So warm in evening I stayed outside,” he wrote. “I did not do much work.” Interesting that it was cooler outside than inside!
