Professor Hamilton's Diary: July 20, 1935
He finishes 'Road to War' book; the missing Pinkerton detective turns up
Professor Hamilton continued to shape up his manuscript for publication today, and also found time to write a letter to Margaret. He had lunch at home but went out to supper at his favorite spot, the Thomas Jefferson Tea Room. A severe thunderstorm during the day relieved some of the heat and humidity, and he spent the evening completing Millis’s The Road to War. He was favorably impressed: “very fascinating and telling indictment of the diplomacy of Wilson and House,” he wrote. He was writing about President Woodrow Wilson and his aide and advisor, Edward M. House.
