Readers, I will be traveling this week to Roosevelt Reading Day at the FDR Presidential Library and Museum in Hyde Park, New York. I am combining a couple of diary days but promise I will come back with lots of new material to share with you!

Professor Hamilton got his car greased and the oil changed in prepartion for their drive to Bronxville, which began early on Saturday morning, June 22. They arrived at 2 p.m. at the home of Margaret’s parents. That evening he drove to Scarsdale to see his thesis advisor and they went over a few portions of the dissertation on the early American printers and newspaper publishers of New York that he had revised. They planned to meet again in two weeks. “Margaret, children, and I all very tired this evening,” he concluded.

President Roosevelt spent Friday, June 21 watching the rowing teams of Harvard and Yale compete in their annual regatta in New London, CT. Paid subscribers can learn why he had to scrounge a necktie and how the race turned out for his son, Franklin Jr.

The photo above appeared in the New York Daily News on June 23, accessed via newspapers.com.
