Although Easter would not be celebrated until April 21, Albright College was observing a Week of Prayer organized by the YMCA. Two services were planned each day, with the week being kicked off by Dr. Norman C. Milliron of Pittsburgh, first pastor of the city’s Evangelical Church.

Professor Hamilton went to the chapel service at 10 but makes no comment about what the speaker said. He continued his routine of teaching and getting Margaret to and from the hospital, and even found time to take his car to the garage for its annual inspection.

“We were pleased to find Mary Elizabeth sitting up and in fine spirits,” he wrote.

President Roosevelt left for a cruise vacation in the Bahamas today and would return April 8. The trip was taken on board the yacht SS Nourmahal, owned by his friend Vincent Astor. The map is from the collection of the FDR Presidential Library and Museum.
