Professor Hamilton's Diary: March 13, 1935
He writes 'a number of letters'; newspaper readers find a happy ending
It was a fairly quiet day for the Hamiltons. The professor, apparently feeling well again, taught his morning and afternoon classes, came home to help Margaret and her mother around the house, and studied in the evening. He also “wrote a number of letters in the p.m.”
Many newspapers at this time ran a daily serial, often of a romantic nature, to build readership. (Don’t laugh. This is how Charles Dickens got his start!) The Reading Times was concluding its latest serial, Silken Spindles by Laura Lou Brookman, and ran an ad today promising readers another thrilling serial would begin tomorrow.
